Punta Placencia Village Punta Placencia, Belize

2010

Set along the sheltered edge of Placencia Harbour, this project is envisioned as a seamless extension of Punta Placencia’s coastal village fabric—where hospitality, marina life, and everyday community rhythms meet the Caribbean landscape.

The plan organizes a collection of low-scale buildings, guest villas, and shared amenities around a walkable main street and a series of garden courtyards, creating a porous transition between village, resort, and waterfront. Architecture draws from local Belizean coastal typologies, pitched roofs, shaded verandas, and natural materials, nestled within dense tropical planting that provides cooling, privacy, and habitat value.

At the water’s edge, a working marina and pier network anchor the project economically and socially, supporting fishing, excursion boating, and daily harbor life. The shoreline is designed as both a protective edge and a social threshold, with small beaches, landing points, and shaded gathering areas that reinforce the connection between land and sea.

The overall vision is intentionally un-resort-like: a place that feels grown from Placencia rather than placed within it. A place that is walkable, locally rooted, ecologically responsive, and unmistakably Caribbean in light, color, and experience.
