Institute for Integrative and Innovative Research at the University of Arkansas Fayetteville, AR / 2025

The Institute for Integrative and Innovative Research (I3R) at the University of Arkansas is a distinctive group of buildings with flexible, state-of-the-art, and collaborative spaces focused in five subject matters: material science, data science, bioscience and bioengineering research and education in metabolism, food and technology, and integrative systems neuroscience. It’s physical location, spatial organization and vanguard technology seeks to generate a synergetic atmosphere for faculty, researchers, industry experts to thrive and facilitate competition for funding from government agencies, national foundations, industry partners, and other external sources.

The landscape design surrounding the I3R complex provides a welcoming landscape setting, integrating the new facilities in to the existing campus and cherished oak ridge environment. The site design stabilizes the extreme slopes of the Oak Ridge with the introduction of a Oak Savanna landscape, Outdoor terraces and porches frame views, foster a sense of community and increase opportunities for engagement between faculty and students.
