Green House Garden Doylestown, PA / 2023

The Green House Garden is a small outdoor room the extends the the outdoor living space of an 1850s colonial home in the heart of Doylestown, Pennsylvania. The plan is centered around a lawn panel, bookended by a performance deck/stage adjacent to the house and a whimsical fireplace on the other. The project utilized reclaimed and naturally sourced materials. The granite cobble paving, stepping stones, outdoor fireplace, steps and seatwalls were reclaimed during the demolition of a pier at Penn’s Landing in Center City Philadelphia. The decking is random width, locally sourced, white oak from Northern Bucks County. Fastigiate Hornbeam enclose the space and are intended to be clipped into a formal hedge.
