Crosland Greens Mixed-Use Development Charlotte, NC

Conceived by the client as a highly sustainable community, LandDesign crafted a master plan and sustainable vision for a 30 acre mixed use development. On land reclaimed from tired, poorly utilized retail frontage, the project would take advantage of a new light rail stop on Charlotte’s Blue Line and integrate a wide variety of uses on 30 acres of land assemblage. The main retail boulevard leads to a “town center” which houses the primary institutional and office uses including a library, a dance theater, office building, and ground floor retail overlooking the central green space. Avenues off of the green lead to distinct mixed use communities with residential units over retail screening structured parking behind. Each street has a unique architecture ranging from warehouse forms to more modern loft architecture, to traditional institutional massing around the green. Surrounding the mixed use avenues, is townhouse product, then scaled down to urban single family lots. The entire property is surrounded by a greenway that would encourage outdoor living through trails, community vegetable and flower gardens, as well as other outdoor activity venues.
